Sutherland King was founded in 2021 by Margaret SK Hughes and Grayson K. Hughes, PE. Located in Dallas, Texas, Sutherland King provides Civil Engineering and Development Management Services to its clients within the US, primarily throughout the State of Texas.
The firm has experience in many project types consisting of commercial office, industrial warehouses, data centers, multifamily, single family, institutional, hospitality and retail projects. The firm has operated all over the greater DFW area as well as Houston, San Antonio, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Margaret SK Hughes
Margaret SK Hughes is an accomplished business leader with a strong background in financial strategy, accounting, and operational management. As Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer, Margaret brings 16+ years of experience in managing the financial health and strategic direction of organizations across multiple industries, including engineering, family offices, and public accounting. Her expertise spans financial management, corporate governance, tax strategy, risk management, and leadership.
Margaret's diverse expertise in finance, operational leadership, and compliance makes her a highly effective executive in running and managing the company. Her ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on financial oversight has been crucial in the success of the firm, and she continues to drive the firm's growth through her leadership, industry knowledge, and dedication to operational excellence.
Grayson K Hughes, PE
As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Grayson leads the business development, design, and execution of the firms work product. Grayson Hughes has 17+ years in the industry with expertise in project management, permitting and entitlement, and design of sites and roadways, water and wastewater infrastructure, drainage facilities including hydraulic and hydrologic design and analysis, detention, and floodplain mitigation and reclamation.
In addition to design and management duties, Grayson has experience working with developers, architects, contractors and other consulting groups to create a value based approach to each development project. Grayson has worked with many municipalities as well as local, state, and federal agencies including US Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality and Federal Aviation Agency.
